This isn't a picture I took. It is an SEM of some carbon nanotubes that I grew at work. I thought this image looked pretty cool. The nanotubes are going to be used as emitters for an electron "gun." The substrate they were grown on was patterned to control where the nanotubes grew. These guys look like they are about 125 microns tall, so a little longer than we want for this application, but it makes for a pretty cool picture. Just for reference the average human hair is about 90 microns in diameter.
